Farmhouse in Beaconsfield
The client asked Robert Mumby Architects to produce the planning application for replacement windows to a 16th Century Grade 2 Listed Farmhouse. The 32 replacement windows were manufactured using traditional methods with leaded lights, glazed with a 50/50 mix of Restoration and P1 glass with seeds and ripples.
Fabrication, supply and installation were carried out by a Kent Joinery company near Canterbury, whilst the leaded windows were manufactured and supplied by a High Wycombe traditional glazing company.
Other work also included replacement of the original tiled hall floor which was lost in a 1980’s refurbishment. However, a single photo was found that showed the original size, and orientation of the historic pamment tiles. From this we worked closely with a Norfolk based family run company to replicate a reinstatement of the floor with Antique Black and Suffolk Terracotta pamment treated with boiled linseed oil and antique wax.
